Karachi ranked at 93 in the latest global crime index

Karachi has been positioned at 93 in the most recent worldwide crime index published by Numbeo.com, improving the ranking by five places since January 2020.

As indicated by Numbeo, which gathers figures dependent on information put together by residents. The rankings are based on data up to 3 years old.

“We consider crime levels lower than 20 as very low, crime levels between 20 and 40 as being low, crime levels between 40 and 60 as being moderate, crime levels between 60 and 80 as being high and finally crime levels higher than 80 as being very high,” the website says.

In January 2020,  crime level of Karachi remained at 55.20 and consequently the city was positioned at 88. Now, the city remains at a “moderate” crime level of 55.15 and has been positioned 93 among a sum of 387 urban communities, meaning an improvement in the peace situation. The city has also previously remained at number fourth back in 2014. The Sindh IGP ascribed the improvement to better policing and stricter measures taken to battle wrongdoing.

He guaranteed that various types of crimes have decreased essentially in the province including murders, directed killings, dacoities/burglaries, blackmail, and so on. The index has positioned Lahore at 236 with a “low” crime index of 38.25 and Islamabad at 306 with a crime level of 29.44.
