DOHA – Afghan Peace Deal Is A Victory For Taliban. Taliban leader and former Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef has deemed Afghan peace deal ‘a victory for Taliban.’

According to details, United States and the Taliban are coming together after 19 long years to sign a peace deal. Meanwhile, the deal will see the withdrawal of thousands of US troops from Afghanistan.

Former Afghan envoy to Pakistan and senior Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, along with others are with the Taliban delegation that came to sign the agreement. He talked to media at the ceremony in Doha about the importance of peace deal as it brings a ray of hope the war-torn country. Talking about this, Zaeef said as follows.

“I think that this is very important. This is a very good step for the beginning of peace in Afghanistan. This agreement is giving hope to the people of Afghanistan that peace is coming in-sha-allah. This step was very important as it will open the door for intra-Afghan dialogue. Something which the people of Afghanistan are waiting for eagerly. He also termed the deal a victory for the Taliban. He said: “United States, with the help of her allies, imposed war in 2001 on Afghanistan and Taliban. Afghan people or Taliban did not choose it. I don’t say that Taliban gave up, but it was America who has given up.”

The signing ceremony is happening today in Doha where representatives and diplomats from 50 countries including Afghanistan, US, and India are attending. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is representing Pakistan at the ceremony in Doha, Qatar.
