JERUSALEM – Netanyahu To Win Israel’s Elections. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Monday, has claimed victory in Israel’s elections. This was after exit polls showed his right-wing Likud party several seats ahead of the centrist Blue and White party.

According to details, the final polls were predicting another tight race between Netanyahu and Benny Gantz of the centrist Blue and White party. However, the trend soon changed. On Tuesday, polls released by three television networks gave Likud and its allies 60 seats in the parliament. On this, Netanyahu tweeted that the results were “a huge victory for Israel.”

A couple days ago Benjamin Netanyahu had also pledged to annex key parts of the occupied West Bank within “weeks” if re-elected. In an interview with Israeli public radio, Netanyahu said annexation of the strategically crucial Jordan Valley is his top priority.

The tensions in Jerusalem are high after US President Donald Trump’s widely-criticised Middle East peace plan unveiled in late January. It proposed Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the State of Israel. It also included the Israeli settlements in the West Bank as well as the Jordan valley.
