ISLAMABAD – Pakistani nation world-wide is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day today. February 5 is the day when Indian forces forcefully took control of the Kashmir valley. This occupation led to a continuous contention between India and Pakistan which has been going on since 73 years.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has arrived in Muzaffarabad today to address the special session of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoJ&K) on Kashmir Solidarity Day.

According to details, AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan recieved PM Imran Khan. Speaker Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir and other high-ranking officials were also there upon his arrival at the helipad.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has also reiterated unwavering support for the Kashmiri brethren. He said that Pakistan will continue to raise the voice of  and for Kashmiris. He added that Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed to highlight the brutalities that India is committing in the held Valley to curb the rights of the people of Kashmir.

This year’s Kashmir Solidarity Day also marks 6 months since the Modi government unanimously scrapped article 370 and 35-A of the Indian constitution. These articles gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir which have now been scrapped. The whole state was also put under heavy military curfew and a brutal communications lockdown which is still in place.

Other than these, Modi government also bifurcated the only Muslim majority state in India into two union territories of Jammu Kashmir and Laddakh.
