ISLAMABAD – Foreign Driving Licences are now acceptable in Pakistan. This decision will likely facilitate foreigners and overseas Pakistanis.
The development would allow foreigners to drive in the country without any hassle. While this comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the relevant authorities in the response to a number of requests made by expatriates on the Prime Minister’s Portal.
As per details, foreign driving licences are now acceptable in Pakistan. Foreign licenses in the city of Islamabad are safe from fines. Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued an order, asking all staff, including deputy superintendents of traffic police, to accept driving licences issued by other countries. The order further stated that the ITP staff should not fine drivers holding valid foreign driving licences.
SP ITP, Khalid Rasheed said that it is for the first time that foreign driving licenses are acceptable in Pakistan.
