In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Health Dr Zafar Mirza took to his Twitter handle. He said that we have a fifth confirmed case in the federal areas. He said that the patient is stable yet. “I request the media to respect the privacy of the patient and the family,” he tweeted.

The female patient, 45, is a resident of Gilgit. Her samples referred to the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, tested positive. Meanwhile, she is in an isolated ward of the hospital. Meanwhile, the Gilgit-Baltistan government announced that all educational institutions will remain closed till March 7.

The coronavirus outbreak has claimed several thousand lives as scientists struggle to develop a vaccine to cure the disease. The number of deaths compared to the number of infections is higher in Iran than in any other country, including China and South Korea where the outbreak is far more widespread.
