Doctors Threaten To Stop Working From March 24 Onwards In Four Government Hospitals

ISLAMABAD: Representatives of doctors from four public hospitals in Islamabad have announced that they cannot continue working without personal protective equipment(PPE). They further announced that they would shut the outpatient departments (OPDs) from 24 March.

Doctors from Pims, Polyclinic, National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (NIRM) and Federal General Hospital talked at a question and answer session held at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

Dr Asfandyar Khan from Pims said disengagement wards in emergency clinics had been set up at such places which can’t be gotten to by suspected coronavirus patients without going through all parts of the premises.

“We dread that general patients and hospital staff will likewise be contaminated. There are no courses of action to secure medical attendants, paramedics and other staff of hospitals from the savage virus. We had requested the government to arrange PPE however nobody tried to tune in to our interests.”

He said it was disgraceful that no consultant, parliamentarian or representative from the government visited clinics to review the courses of action.
