New Delhi – Trump Again Offers To Mediate On Kashmir. US President Donald Trump has once again reiterated an offer to help mediate between India and Pakistan over the disputed territory of Kashmir.

According to media reported on Tuesday, Trump made the offer while speaking to media persons in New Delhi. The US president said that he held in-depth talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the matter.

Trump maintained that Pakistan is playing a key role in fight against terrorism. He said the US is working with Pakistan to crack down on terror issues on the border. “We have great relations with Pakistan and we hope we will be able to reduce tensions, Trump said. Terrorism is a problem but we have a very good relationship with Pakistan’s prime minister. Trump had offered to mediate, an offer that India’s foreign ministry has routinely rejected. Analysts say that while the offer may not lead to any actual mediation, the fact that Trump brought up Kashmir at all is significant. Trump and Imran Khan have met three times since the latter took power as prime minister in 2018. Each time displaying a particular friendliness in their interactions. In 2018, Trump cut more than $1.1bn in security assistance to Pakistan over accusations of supporting Taliban.

Last month, US State Department also announced that it would resume Pakistan’s participation in a US military training and education programme.
