CAIRO – Tourist In Egypt Becomes First Coronavirus Death In Africa. The first ever recorded death from Coronavirus in Africa comes from Egypt. A German tourist died on Sunday due the novel coronavirus in a Sinai resort of eastern Egypt.

According to an announcement by the Health Ministry, this marks the first death from coronavirus in the African Continent. The 60-year-old German citizen showed symptoms of a fever. His tests came positive for COVID-19 on March 6th. The German tourist was dead when before going in an isolation ward. He was also having acute pneumonia.

On Saturday, the health ministry announced 45 suspected cases of Egyptians and foreigners contracting the virus aboard a Nile cruise ship. The ship was carrying 171 people in which 101 are foreigners and 70 are Egyptian crew

Besides this, Egypt has three cases of the virus up till now. With the first one coming out on February 14. The health ministry said last week that the first patient, a Chinese national, was recovered and have left the country. Tourist In Egypt Becomes First Coronavirus Death In Africa.

The other two cases, a Canadian working in an oil company and an Egyptian who returned from Serbia through France, were still undergoing treatment.
