Pakistan in strong position against Bangladesh after tons from Babar Azam and Shan Masood

Rawalpindi– Pakistan ended the second day of the first test in a solid position after Babar Azam and Shan Masood hit tons with a half-ton from Asad Shafiq. Pakistan were 342-3 at stumps of second day.

Pakistan moved to a solid 342-3 with seven wickets still in hand after dismissing the opponents for 233 on first day. Bangladesh paid the price for dropping Babar on a mere individual score of 2. He then went on to score career best 143 off 192 deliveries with 19 fours and a six. Babar and Asad both were not-out when Umpires called it a day at RWP cricket stadium.

Shan Masood scored 100 runs. This was his second century in successive tests. He previously scored a ton against Sri Lanka in December 2019.

But Babar AzamĀ  proved that he’s a class apart yet again. This was his fourth century in five tests. He previously had scored tons against Sri Lanka in Karachi and Rawalpindi and against Australia before that.

Left arm spinner Taijul Islam bowled a marathon spell of 27 overs. He took the wicket of Shan Masood and ended the last session of the day with figures of 1-111.

Abid Ali who had a dream debut against Sr Lanka and scored tons in both test matches couldn’t score a single run this time around. He was caught behind by wicket-keeper Liton Das after trying to drive the ball away from his body in only the second over. But the 91-run stand between skipper Azhar Ali and opener Shan Masood helped Pakistan recover from the early jolt in the innings.

Pakistan look in a very strong position at the end of day 2 with a lead of 109 runs and seven wickets still in hand.
