LAHORE – Hafiz Saeed Convicted For Terrorism. A Lahore anti-terrorism court, on Wednesday, convicted Jamat-ud Dawa leader Hafiz Saeed in two terror-financing cases.

According to details, Saeed got a prison sentence of five-and-a-half years and a fine of Rs15,000 in each case. The sentences of both cases will run concurrently. The court also granted him the benefit of Section 382-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure (reduction of period of sentence of imprisonment).

They were convicted under the Anti-Terrorism Act Section 11-F(2) and 11-N. These laws are pertaining to membership, support and meetings relating to a proscribed organisation. The court directed authorities to keep Saeed under custody until further orders.

ATC judge Arshad Hussain Bhatta announced the verdict . Saeed was also present in the courtroom while the judge read out the sentence. Counter Terrorism Department arrested the JuD chief in July last year, while he was travelling from Lahore to Gujranwala.

US and India repeatedly accuse Saeed of masterminding the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed 166 people. US and UN declared him an international terrorist in 2018 over his alleged role in the Mumbai attacks. India and US consider JuD to be the a front for Lashkar-e-Tayibba.
