ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Urges Trump To Reconsider WHO’s Funding. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on Thursday, has said that US President Donald Trump should  reconsider his decision to withdraw funds for the World Health Organisation.

According to details, the foreign minister was addressing a press briefing in Islamabad. He said that WHO is in the frontlines of humanity’s war against the pandemic. Cutting funding at a crucial time like this can be harmful. Qureshi added that in view of the global health crisis, all countries should work collectively to contain the outbreak.

Foreign Minister urged President Donald Trump to reconsider his decision regarding WHO’s funding. The United States is the biggest overall donor to the WHO which contributes more than 400 million a year, roughly 15% of its budget.

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump halted funding to the World Health Organization WHO over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Trump accuses WHO of promoting China‘s disinformation about the virus. Trump believes that WHO has failed in this basic duty and must be held accountable.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also said it was not the time to reduce resources for the WHO. He said now is the time for unity and for the international community to work together in solidarity to stop this virus and its shattering consequences.
