Zhob’s Hindu community handed over the building of a 200 year old temple

Quetta- Zhob’s Hindu community was handed over the building of a 200 year old temple after 72 years, by the authorities. The building was previously being used for a Government school for over 30 years.

A ceremony was held outside the temple where the keys of the four-roomed temple were handed over to Hindu community leaders. Maulana Allah Dad Kakar who happens to be the Khatib of a local mosque and a leader of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam was the chief guest at the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Saleem Taha, elders of Hindu and other minority communities and leaders of other political parties.

The keys were handed over to Saleem Jan, chairman of local Hindu community, by Maulana Kakar.

Talking on the event, Deputy Commissioner Taha stated: “It is a significant and chronicled day for Balochistan, especially Zhob.” He said that Maulana Kakar had not just upheld the administration’s choice to hand over the temple to the Hindu people yet in addition went to the function as a chief guest. “This is an incredible example of inter-faith harmony.” The deputy commissioner also apologized for the 70 year delay in the process and added that the building will be restored to its original condition and then the Hindu community will be able to use the place for worship.

Saleem Jan said that before this the Hindu community was using a mud building for worship which could’ve collapsed at any instance.
