GENEVA – UNHCR Files Against CAA In Indian SC. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has filed an Intervention Application in the Supreme Court of India against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

According to details, India’s mission in Geneva was given the notice of the intervention application submitted by Michelle Bachelet of UNHCR

Indian Ministry for External Affairs has reacted strongly to this saying that it is their internal matter. Therefore no other country or organisation has a right to say anything about it.

The application by the UNHCR comes at a crucial time. The deadly clashes between Hindu fundamentalists and muslims in Delhi has left at least 38 people killed, with hundreds injured. An uneasy calm has since descended over the affected northeast areas of Delhi.

According to media reports, Dalit leader of the Bhim Army, Chndra Shekhar Azad had approached the United Nations. He requested an investigation into humans rights violations in India.
